Is the so-called "family" just a dangerous breeding ground for male violence against women?

Yes. It's the only reason men marry. We get a punching bag right in the same house. It's AWESOME! I hadn't even left the church on my wedding day before I had my wife by the neck slamming her head into the wall. I was sick of walking around the street carrying a bat... hoping to find some woman walking around so I could unload a good beating. I knew that if I wanted to carry out my violence against women on a routine basis, I was going to have to marry some broad. So now I wake up in the morning... do some exercises... eat a little breakfast... and then it's "beating time." Life is good when you're a patriarch.
